For most of the county's teams, the 2009 football season ends Friday. Ten weeks never went so fast.

But for a select few, this is the last chance to secure a playoff berth or improve their seeding.

4A West Region

Sherwood (8-1) and Paint Branch (8-1) have clinched berths, and the Warriors a first-round home game. They can wrap up the top seed by being the first team this year to beat Quince Orchard, or with a Panthers loss.

Whitman (7-2), Churchill (7-2) and Springbrook (6-3) are in a three-way tussle for the final two places. The beauty of Week 10 is that they can decide it on the field against other contenders in this region.

It was 364 days ago Friday when Churchill hosted Wootton in a win-you're-in, lose-you're-out game; the Bulldogs lost, and were out. The scenario could be the same when they welcome Whitman Friday.
